Brick House Farm was built circa 1830 and was originally part of a larger two farm tract called Big Owl Hill which included an older log home and outbuildings. After the death of the owner in 1884, Brick House farm was separated from the original estate when the land was split into two farms and sold at auction.
Manchester Maryland was used as an encampment during the American Civil war for the Union Sixth Army Corps under General John Sedgwick on July 1 st , 1863. The following day, the army made its march to the Battle of Gettysburg.
