Joselene Hills Manor is a masterpiece of Georgian elegance, overlooking some of the finest landscape in the DC area. Take in incomparable views of the Catoctin Mountains, lush woodlands, green grass fields and bright blue skies.
The quality of construction is unparalleled. The best Georgia Pine was used for flooring and paneling throughout the residence and fine granite from Upstate New York makes up the front porch. Magnificently crafted fireplaces, crown molding and dramatic lighting are only a few examples of the artistry to be recognized in this residence.
With four levels of living space, Joselene Hills Manor is a home given to entertaining both formally and informally, from the impressive living room with its alcoves, ornate paneling, and dramatic chandelier to the spacious media & family rooms on the lower level with their open spaces and recessed lighting.
No detail was spared in the lavishly appointed 1980′s section of the home, designed by nationally renowned architect Frank Auspitz, whose credits include the renovation of Winterthur for the Dupont family in Delaware and the governor’s mansion in Williamsburg VA. The stunning millwork and windows were designed and constructed by Auspitz to match the period of the original house and the window panes were cut from 150-200 year old glass. Joselene Hills Manor is an exciting marriage of inspired design and modern amenities – the living room is patterned after that found in Martha Washington’s Mount Vernon, the foyer and staircase after Carter’s Grove in Jamestown Virginia and the serpentine brick walled garden is tribute to Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, while the kitchen is 21st century gourmet, the master bath features a whirlpool tub and an elevator covers all 4 floors. This extraordinary work of art creates a sensation of relaxation, comfort and style — unparalleled in today’s real estate market.
An impressive entrance foyer with a sweeping staircase elevates to a second floor landing and to a spacious master suite. The resplendent master suite is truly fit for royalty. An expansive space, the gracious master has a fireplace with exquisite paneling. The master bathroom offers a two-person walk-in shower, Jacuzzi bath, separate water closet and a laundry closet with front loading stacked washer & dryer. A large walk-in closet is outfitted with built-ins and an abundance of natural light.
GOURMET CHEF’S KITCHEN
The state-of-the-art chef’s kitchen, in the original section of the house, is perfect for the gourmet chef or novice cook. The kitchen offers top-of-the-line, built-in stainless steel appliances, including a wall oven and cooktop. A large breakfast area provides a casual alternative to the adjoining dining room, while both share access to an outside porch and its unrivaled views.
A catering kitchen is down the stairs below the kitchen boasting an additional sink, oven & refrigerator, perfect for dish storage, extra stemware and china and perhaps a future a wine cellar and tasting room.
• The addition to the house was built in the 1980’s.
• Architect Frank Auspitz built all the woodwork for the house in his shop in Litiz, PA. He also was an architect for the renovations to Winterthur for the Dupont’s in Delaware and the governor’s mansion in Williamsburg, VA.
• The trim and windows were built and designed by him to match the period of the original house. The trim and all the woodwork were built by him at his shop in Litiz and installed in the house. The glass that was used for the windows was 150 to 200 year old glass.
• The foyer and staircase in the addition was patterned after those in Carter’s Grove in Jamestown, VA.
• The living room is patterned after the living room in the Martha Washington home at Mount Vernon.
• The floor is Georgian pine, supplied by Vintage Lumber in Woodsboro, MD. The wood was taken from a 150 year old barn. The lumber was refinished with tongue and groove to make flooring and was installed in a manor so the gaps appeared to have shrunk to match the original flooring.
• The granite for the front porch is from a quarry in upstate New York and the foundation stone came from a barn at the Betty Cramer House on Route 26.
• The formal garden is a replica of the serpentine garden designed by Thomas Jefferson at Monticello.
• All of the hardware on the doors is Baldwin Brass.
